Sighisoara, in Transylvania, is one of these villages, and captures the medieval way of life in Romania. For those interested in the history of Romania, the Daican fortresses are unmissable. These amazing relics are set in the spectacular Orastie Mountains and provide some amazing panoramic views as well as a trip through time to 1AD, when the fortresses were originally built to protect the Daican kingdom.

Romania's modern-day capital, Bucharest, also has much to offer tourists. With French architecture and neo-classical buildings bordering tree-lined parks, the city has been nicknamed 'Little Paris'. With an array of museums, theatres, opera houses, galleries, restaurants and bars, there's something for everyone in Bucharest!
