An island steeped in myth and legend, history and hospitality, sunshine and romance, there's something about Cyprus that draws visitors back year after year.
Cheap flights, accommodation and holidays to Cyprus
Holidays to Cyprus have long been a favourite with British holidaymakers. Ancient olive groves, sweeping vineyards, pine-scented mountains with snow-capped peaks, and a beautiful coastline peppered with wonderful beaches, it’s hardly surprising that Cyprus was the birthplace of Aphrodite, Goddess of Love, and that today, holidays to Cyprus are so popular. Today you can enjoy lively, modern resorts, discover the picturesque hilltop villages of the Trodos Mountains and explore historic sites like the Tomb of the Kings and colourful mosaics in Paphos. Holidays to Cyprus offer a wonderfully varied holiday experience.
The island enjoys a rich and varied history stretching back some 9,000 years with ancient temples, Crusader castles and archaeological sites to explore, whilst on holiday in Cyprus. Cyprus was under British rule for 80 years or so until 1960 – you’ll notice the red telephone boxes, driving on the left and zebra crossings - and a lot of affection for the British remains, making holidays to Cyprus especially popular.
Today Cyprus attracts worshippers of all sorts: some come for the sun, the family resorts and the friendly welcome of the local people. Others come to devote themselves to the terrific watersports – scuba diving, windsurfing, sailing, fishing and water-skiing. For dance music fans, Ayia Napa is a mecca for the UK garage and club scene.

Exploring
There's no debating the quality of Cypriot beaches, but if you can tear yourself away for a day or two, there are some fantastic places well worth visiting, whilst you're on holiday in Cyprus.
Nicosia is a sight in itself, encircled by strong fortress walls from the 16th Century. The capital is a fascinating city with a myriad of alleyways, excellent shopping in its big stores and plenty of bars and restaurants. It is also a divided city with the ‘green line’ running through the city separating Turkish Northern Cyprus, from Greek Southern Cyprus.

It consists of up to 20 small dishes to share, such as vegetables, dips, smoked fish and meat. Enjoy a light lunch of ‘horiatiki’ salad and grilled halloumi cheese. More generally, seafood, kebabs and lots of fresh fruit will commonly be found on the menu.
Shopping
Limassol, Larnaca and Nicosia all have good shopping centres, for great value prices on porcelain, perfume, crystal, cameras, spectacles and clothing. There are numerous souvenir shops in the resorts, where you can pick up local handicrafts, such as the traditional Lefkara needle-lace. Exquisite jewellery, handmade lace, basket work, pottery, leather goods and silverware are all good buys, and make lovely souvenirs of your holiday in Cyprus.
