A warm welcome awaits visitors to Gambia. Africa's smallest country, Gambia has a surprisingly diverse landscape, with white sand beaches lining the Atlantic coast, to mahogany woodland and mangrove swamps along the River Gambia, which runs for the whole length of the country.

In general nightlife in Gambia is low-key, and usually hotel based. The main area for nightclubs is Kololi Beach, where you’ll find a limited selection. Visitors are advised to be cautious if visiting nightclubs in Banjul or Serrekunda, and should preferably be accompanied by a local.
Local buses link Banjul with most towns and villages throughout Gambia. Buses are cheap and relatively reliable, and as a result often crowded. Green ‘tourist taxis’ are available, but prices should be agreed in advance. There are also yellow ‘city taxis’ which are used by locals, and are not recommended for visitors.
