Epitomised by the film ‘Room with a view’, Florence is one of the world's most exciting and exuberant cities, with architectural treasures around virtually every corner. It is also blessed with the breathtaking scenery of the stunning Tuscan countryside.

The city centre is compact and easy to explore on foot or by bike, although there is a good bus service. There is so much to see in Florence that you will have difficulty squeezing it all in.

The Uffizi Gallery is an obvious starting point. It is home to the Medici art collection including works by Botticelli, Da Vinci and Raphael. The star attraction at the Galleria dell’Accademia has to be Michaelangelo’s ‘David’

The city’s skline is dominated by the ‘Duomo’. For the best views of the city, climb the Campanile (bell tower). Another ‘definite’ for your sight-seeing agenda has to be the 14th century Ponte Vecchio, the only bridge to avoid bomb damage during World war II and now lined with small shops selling gold and silver.
