Spain welcomes 30 million tourists every year, making it Europe's most popular holiday destination.
Cheap flights, accommodation and holidays to Spain
It was Spain that was the birthplace of the ‘package holiday to the sun’ phenomenon, and to this day Spanish package holidays remain a huge favourite. The Mediterranean coast, often referred to as the ‘Costas’ sees the biggest number of UK passengers, and make a fantastic destination for a family holiday to Spain. Stretching from Costa Brava in the North East, down to Costa del Sol in the south, Spain's Mediterranean coastline is a magnet for those in search of a sun-soaked Spanish beach holiday. So popular in fact are these regions, that increasing numbers of people are buying properties in the region. Some, just to use for their annual holidays, but large numbers are now leaving the UK, to set up residence in Spain, helped by an ever increasing number of low cost flights to Spain. The climate obviously plays a huge part in that, with vastly greater sunshine hours, hot summers and mild winters.
The Costas are popular year-round, with their mild winter climate. Many people travel here for ‘long-stay' winter holidays. From 4 weeks to 4 months, a long stay holiday in Spain gives people the chance escape the dull and dreary British winter for a sunny and mild Spanish one. This makes a winter holiday to Spain an ideal choice for those seeking a break in the sun.

The typical image of Spanish beaches is that of crowded sands, backed by skyscraper buildings. Whilst this is true of some of the more well-known resorts such as Benidorm and Lloret de Mar, every resort has a range of unique appeals. So if it is a cosmopolitan city or small fishing village, long quiet stretches of sand or rocky coves – somewhere along the Costas is a place for your ideal Spanish beach holiday.
But Spain has so much more to offer than just a ‘Bucket and Spade’ holiday spot. Barcelona and Madrid have long been favourites for short city breaks, with fabulous architecture, museums and culture. But with more and more flights to Spain’s regional airports, cities like Valencia become increasingly popular for Spanish short break holidays.
And as if this wasn’t enough, the Pyrenees and Sierra Nevada also mean that Spain is a great winter destination for ski enthusiasts. In fact, at the Sierra Nevada you can be skiing in the morning, and after a short drive down the mountain, you can spend the afternoon on the beach on the Costa del Sol. Could you want any more from a destination?!
Add to this, the friendly locals (most of whom speak excellent English), and great cuisine, Spainish holidays will remain a UK favourite for many years to come.
Traditional package holidays to Spain are offered by many tour operators, and many represent excellent value for money. However, for greater flexibility, you may prefer to choose a Spanish hotel from the selection of hotels in Spain, and add it to a low cost flight to Spain to create your ideal Spanish holiday. If you are visiting family or friends, you may not need to book any accommodation in Spain, and may prefer to only search for a flight to Spain.
