Praia da Rocha

The long wide sweep of the most beautiful beach in the Algarve is at the foot of rugged red sandstone cliffs often photographed for their strange rock formations and caves.  There is a picturesque tree-lined promenade with a good choice of bars, restaurants, discos and boutiques. An old fortress, St Catherine, offers panoramic views along the estuary and further inland there is Portimao which has great shops, a fishing harbour and excellent open air restaurants.
